FAQ

I don’t know my size, which size should I choose?

Please see our SIZE CHART

What is the difference between a closed gusset and a press stud opening gusset?

The gusset is the strip of fabric at the crotch of the garment. We offer the standard briefs with a choice of two gusset options.

The first being the closed option, this means the crotch is one continual strip of fabric and the garment is all-in-one much like a leotard or a swimsuit. The second option is the opening version and this means the strip of fabric at the crotch undoes conveniently for calls of nature and fastens securely again with plastic press studs/snap fasteners.

I wear size 12 tops yet have size 16 hips, which size would fit me best?

Due to the stretch in our stockings it’s usually best to go for the slightly smaller size if in doubt. However, if your measurements are very unique we will custom make a stocking especially for you for a small extra charge of £5. If you require this service please CONTACT US with your measurements and requirements and this service will be added to your order.

I am very long/short in the body. I often have problems when buying swimwear and lingerie, will your stockings fit me?

Our stockings are designed on the ‘average’ body length and we have listened to customer feedback and have had to alter them over the years to find this average. However, we can of course make them either longer or shorter on request.
If you are concerned whether the length of the stocking will fit correctly please CONTACT US providing your dress size and the front measurement from under your bust to centre crotch between the legs. We have found the average measurement to be between 18 and 19 inches. If you are purchasing an over bust style stocking please also provide your bra size. If we feel a custom length stocking will be necessary for you this service can be purchased for just £5.

I am looking for a stocking to match my complexion but I can’t decide which would suit me best as my arms, face and tummy are all slightly different shades. How can I decide this?

This is quite normal and when choosing a stocking we need to remember that the eye unconsciously compares the colour to other close-by visible skin. So you will need to match it to your arms, chest etc. not your tummy for your stocking to go unnoticed. (If you are likely to use self tanning products before a performance you might want to bear this in mind when choosing your stocking.)

Please remember when testing your swatches that mesh appears darker in colour when at ease, therefore it will need to be stretched over your tummy and only then compared to your arms etc. to ensure a good match. Due to its translucent nature it blends with your own natural skin shade to create the final colour. As an example, the overall appearance of the same stocking may look quite dissimilar when worn by two individuals with different skin tones.

If I buy a stocking and it doesn’t match my costume can I return it?

If you are in doubt as to whether a stocking will match an existing costume you may order fabric swatches HERE first before purchasing. These are always dispatched promptly. However, if necessary we do accept returns, please see our RETURNS section

I have a performance next week and would like a stocking in time for it. Is this possible?

We generally ask customers to allow up to 21 days for despatch (although orders are usually sent out the following day.)

However, we do have an EBAY SHOP and have stockings there which are available for guaranteed next day delivery in the UK

If you can’t find anything suitable there and do require a stocking urgently please CONTACT US as we will endeavour to help you.

I accidentally ordered the wrong size, can I exchange it?

Yes, of course. Please see our RETURNS section for instructions.

I am a member of a dance troupe and we would all be interested in buying a stocking. Do you offer discounts on larger orders?

Yes we can offer discounts off orders for 10 or more stockings when paid for and dispatched as a single purchase. Please note there are return restrictions on multiple discounted orders, please see our RETURNS section for details.

I haven’t got a PayPal account, how do I order and pay?

It is very straight forward to checkout  and a Paypal account isn’t necessary. You only require a credit or debit card to use this system. However, if you prefer it is possible to order offline and we do accept various different forms of payment. Please see our PAYMENT sections for details.

I am looking for a stocking in a specific colour to match my costume and you don't appear to have it? Do you have any other colours?

Yes! If you don't see the colour or fabric you want just CONTACT US and we will find it for you. We have a huge range of plain coloured and even printed mesh in stock.

If you have particular colour or fabric requirements and would like a stocking custom made, for example, decorated with diamanté crystals or perhaps a two tone stocking in contrasting colours for an extra cost.
Please CONTACT US to discuss your individual requirements.

I am a male performer and would like a stocking, which style would you recommend for me?

We sell many stockings to male performers. Please CONTACT US with your chest and waist sizes and your height and also let us know what kind of costume you will be wearing. We are able to adapt our patterns for your best fit.

Do your stockings have back or side seams?

Yes, to ensure a good shape and a snug fit they have discreet side seams which are barely noticed when worn with your costume.

We can of course, on request, make a stocking with more pronounced seams for traditional Egyptian dancers who require them to stand out.

What's the difference between a halter neck stocking and a standard neck stocking?

This is merely the angle of the neckline. The halter style has a sharper angle from under bust and across the front of the shoulders towards the back of neck. We have designed these specifically to go with single strap halter dance bras or sleeveless dresses with halter necks. A standard neckline stocking is designed so that the edge seams follow and meet the straps of a standard 2 strap bra or dress. Having the right neckline for your outfit prevents the gap of skin showing between your stocking and costume.
